A Personal Experience with Kambo Cleansing.

Kambo Medicine is the Antidote. The poison comes from you.

The following is a very brief overview of my first Kambo session. Ajooni Retreat will be publishing more details on the Kambo process itself so I’ve omitted in-depth details to avoid repetition.

Prior to my session, I felt anxiety and a little excitement I knew this would have many beneficial outcomes but also was aware that I needed to surrender as sacred medicine heals what needs to be healed, not what you may think. I completed the questionnaire and followed the preparation instructions. Due to the lack of water intake, I was gasping to get started just so I was able to drink water.

 The practitioner explained the program

  1. Introduction

  2. Background and history of Kambo

  3. Benefits

  4. Step-by-step guide to what will happen in the appointment

  5. Consultation

  6. Water Intake

  7. Burning the gates

  8. Kambo Application

  9. Purging

  10. Rest

  11. Clean up

After the consultation, the process began:

    1. Started drinking the 1.5 litres of water
Yes, this can be challenging I was thirsty so was able to complete it with ease

    2. The Kambo practitioner applied the gates by burning small holes in the skin on my arm
It stings but won’t bother you

    3. Once ready a single point of Kambo medicine was applied to the first gate
It’s interesting to watch the practitioner work through the process

    4. After 2 minutes another four points were added
After which, you’re already feeling the effects

From memory, after the application of the Kambo medicine, the following were the feelings and effects. I know now that it lasted about 20 minutes until the resting period:

  1. A feeling of medicine moving through my body

  2. Acid taste in throat and mouth

  3. Face Swelling / Tightening of the head

  4. Throat itching

  5. Feeling the gates stinging

  6. Ears Burning

  7. Body Feeling Hot

  8. Strong heartbeat

  9. Stillness

  10. Nausea

  11. Bowl movements

  12. Yawning

  13. Burping

“There’s a feeling that behind the scenes, things are working in your favour.”

It’s uncomfortable but not for long and your concept of time is distorted so it all happens super fast.

During my process, although I has nausea I didn’t feel the urge to purge by being sick. I’ve never really been someone who’s easily thrown up and so this was hardly surprising. Although in my state I had a strange thought about being the first person in history to not purge 😊

After a time, the Kambo practitioner advised me to drink more water to assist the process, which was the last thing I wanted to do, after which due to my subconscious resistance I was given a dose of Hape (Nu-Nu). Again I initially refused this due to my discomfort but it did what it needed to do as within a short space of time I was sick into the bucket. Not a large amount considering the water intake but it was a symbolic pressure valve release. My own resistance about not wanting to be sick in front of others, or even pooping in my pants soon dissipated when I realised the environment is filled with love and acceptance from all involved and it felt beautiful.

Almost immediately after, I needed to visit the toilet which to my great relief was where the main purge occurred. After another toilet break, the main 20-minute section of the process was over and I rested in a state of peace, joy, relief and mild discomfort.

I did continue light purging the bathroom a few times later in the day when I’d returned home, and although tired generally felt rebalanced and energised.

As a qualified practitioner, I can compare and say that my after-effects were different from the majority of my clients in that the Kambo healing released a lot of sadness which lasted a few weeks. It had to be released and for that, I’m filled with gratitude because of the benefits I still now feel. Further treatments have all had different processes, but without the initial trepidation and with more acceptance of the experiences. The burn scars also look pretty cool.

One unmistakable outcome is the ‘Kambo Flow’, where you sense a momentum of positive things happening. I can best describe this as simple or trivial things like less traffic on the way to work or unexpected good news noticeably more often, while at the same time there’s a feeling that behind the scenes, things are working in your favour. The healing comes from you and the Kambo medicine as turbo-charged realignment onto your correct path.

Please note that the experience is specific to me and while many symptoms, effects and outcomes are common, each experience is individual. I would advise that if you are interested, get in touch and fully accept and surrender to the process.
